Meet Patti!
My story
I grew up with a deep love for expressing myself through fashion, never following trends, but instead creating a style that was entirely my own. From an early age, I understood how powerful it could feel to wear something that made me stand tall, feel bold, and reflect who I truly was. That feeling of confidence and individuality is priceless!

The Original Fashionista, my Mom!
Opening The Funky Hippy Chic Boutique was never just about clothing it was about sharing my love for fashion. I was born in 1960 and Mom was an incredible seamstress and dress designer. As a single mom, we didn’t have a lot of money, so Mom made a lot of our clothes. The truth is, she wanted us to stand out as originals! Kind of like A Coat of Many Colors. That was one of my goals for the boutique. Unique and one of a kind, head turning fashion. Not for the person who wants to blend in, but the ones who want to stand out. We don’t follow trends, we set them. Mom used to say ‘You don’t want to see yourself coming and going!’ This boutique became my canvas, a place to share my love for worldly style, boho vibes, rich textures, and bold expression.
The Funky Hippy Chic Boutique is located at 679 Resorts World Drive, Monticello, New York.
Surrounded by, and immersed in, the 1,700 acres known as Adelaar, this is where the Resorts World Catskills Casino and The Kartrite Resort and water park are located.
Back in the late 1920s, when Sam Chanin, Patti’s grandfather, purchased three acres for his father, it was part of a large farm surrounded by boarding houses, small hotels, and bungalow colonies. Sam and his wife, Esther, did what many folks did here in the summer — they took the long drive from Brooklyn to what was known as “the mountains” to breathe the fresh, clean air.
They had to make a living, so they took in guests who also wanted that clean mountain air. Sam Chanin Bungalows consisted of a saltbox farmhouse with a small apartment on the second floor and three bungalows.
In addition, Grandpa Sam had a candy stand on the corner of Thompsonville and Chalet Roads, where he sold candy, pop, and newspapers to all the passersby and there were many!
At that time, there were as many as 15 boarding houses in the area, all bustling with summer visitors.

This isn’t just a store. It’s an extension of me, and since it is located on my family property, it is truly where my soul lives. I am so grateful to all the beautiful women who willingly call themselves “Funky Hippy Chicks” and have become part of our Funky Hippy Chic Boutique Family. I love to hear how many times they were stopped, just to have someone tell them, ‘You Look Marvelous’! Especially when it’s their mate saying it! It’s empowering for them and me. That is very, very cool! Don’t you think? When a woman is comfortable in her skin, she walks taller and exudes confidence. This brings me so much joy knowing that they feel comfortable in their skin and that skin is wrapped in something fabulous from The Funky Hippy Chic Boutique Style.

When I opened The Funky Hippy Chic Boutique, I knew it was taking a chance, but I had to be true to my mission. From a very young age, I have always expressed myself with clothing and I knew how empowering it was to me to feel that I looked good and even turned heads simply because I was put together in a very unique one-of-a-kind way. It was never about showing off my body, it was about showing my personality! We are all individuals and have an opportunity to create our very own look!
I hoped that these people who dare to look different than others, discover and own their style. In doing that they would feel confident, joyful, powerful and of course beautiful! For me, clothing and accessories have always been my expression of how I was feeling, truly mood-changing. Texture, color, shapes, all these can change the way you feel, and the way you carry yourself.
Send me a picture of you styling our clothing your way, and we will showcase you! That is pure joy!
